Situations in poker are all entirely unique. To make all individual decisions easier is what good strategy is designed to do. And yes, a truly shrewd strategy is much more intricate. Strategy can be compared to a road map. If you know the route you want to take and if you know where you are headed to, making decisions when you get in the car would be a whole lot easier. There is still the possibility of encountering potholes, detours and roadblocks when you start driving but it would be less complicated than figuring out your destination when you have no idea where to go.

A web of interrelated ideas can spring from strategy. For instance, a player who wants to really win will only play within his limit. A player who is not very good at reading bluffs will try to develop an image that would lead other players to bluff him less. Some players would only continue to play in games where he would be able to handle possible situations. It would be nearly endless to mention all aspects of strategy. The tactics that you put into play are pretty small when it comes to skills needed to become a winning player in poker. What makes you a real winner is strategy. Making you win more is the role of good tactics.
